Lunge Lesson Series: Number 2

March 12, 2018 by Admin

Despite the snow outside, it was warm in the arena, and riders were back to build on what they’d learned in the first clinic. Everyone is starting to think about the Spring Show on April 22.

Palmer starts without reins and drops her stirrups after warming up. Meg, a new rider, had a great time on Sunny for her first Lunge lesson.  Sarah started on the lunge and finished off the line.

Winter Clinic Series 2018: Lungeing the Rider

February 18, 2018 by Admin

We set aside three Sunday afternoons for this year’s Winter “Pick-me-up”, a clinic series lungeing the rider. The goal is always to improve both the rider and the horse’s balance with a focus on straightness. Working without reins and/or stirrups helps the rider focus on their seat and body alignment. During the course of each ride, we could see adjustments being made. We worked the horses starting a month ahead to get them fit for the first clinic on February 18.

A nice, old-fashioned Holiday Party that was truly fun for all!

December 17, 2017 by Admin

Horses got to sleep in this cold wintry day while the rest of us played in the Great Room at the farm! We were welcomed by wreaths in the bay window and beautifully decorated tables overflowing with food – ham, delicious home-made soups, Seth’s magic mac, to name a few – and all kinds of sweet things! The traditional mulled wine totally disappeared (have to make more next year) along with other libations! All the young-at-hearts decorated the horsehead sugar cookies (have to make more next year). Our first-ever White Elephant Gift Exchange with everybody in a huge circle was a resounding success. The three most swapped items were the leopard bench, the socks, and the Darth Vader toaster – such lucky people who got those prizes!
