The sun was a welcome guest at Cricket Hill’s “Happy Spring” Open Barn last Friday, April 22. We opened our doors and gardens to over 125 visitors from Ancram and surrounding towns. Pony rides and kids”™ games ran continuously from 11-2:30. Riders of all ages showed the audience their progress in demonstrations of both dressage and jumping. Everyone enjoyed the staff costume ride to the music from “Jungle Book”. Cricket Hill”™s Youth Dressage Team organized the sales table and BBQ hotdogs and hamburgers to raise money for expenses for the big east coast competition they are attending in July.
In a special presentation, Lula Langdon, 7, was awarded her achievement certificate and pin for completing GoldStar 1, Cricket Hill’s program for riding and related horse care. The youngest rider in the demonstration, Lula also holds the barn record for “Around the World”, 13 revolutions on top of the horse in 1 minute! Congratulating Lula are Jazz McClure, left, Lula”™s Instructor, and Jane Rodd, Director of Training and Instruction, on the right. Lula and her parents, Nell and John Langdon, live in Copake.
